Melancholy Performance [open]

She just sighed and shut her eyes.
"..."

"Lupus..Why?"
She looked at him.

"Theyre too secretive...You'd never find them,"
She shook her head.
"It was only by chance that you met me,"

She nodded.
"I suppose so.."

She didnt say anything, just lay on the bed and turned so her head was facing down into the pillow.
"....."

She kept her eyes closed, trying to push back the memories she had of her family.

What am i even doing here...? This is ridiculous...The hunter-nin will be all over me soon...
She sighed heavily and pushed herself up into a sitting position, wiping her eyes.

She grabbed her cap from the nightstand and went back to her original room, packing away the few belongings she had.
"Ok...This shouldnt be too hard...Just dont look at him and walk out the door..Right?"
She said, but she didnt even convince herself that she could do that.
"Ugh who am i kidding...?"

She just shook her head and sat on the side of the bed with her head in her hands.
"I cant do it..I cant,"

She went and sat by the window, leaning her head back against the wall and frowning slightly in confusion.

She continued to stay exactly where she was, looking out at the landscape. She missed being out there, but she liked it here too.

She just shook her head and rubbed the window with her sleeve since her breath was fogging it up.

She finally got up and opened the window, inhaling the fresh air and sighing peacefully. She decided she'd go for a walk tomorrow, and spend some time outdoors on her own.

She went downstairs and sat in the living room, taking a book off the bookshelf and beginning to read to pass the time.

She began to get a spark of inspiration and took a piece of paper. Although she didnt think it was very good, she began to write some poetry.

She finished the poem, looked at it and burnt it using her fire chakra.
"Crap.."

She stayed downstairs that night, just curled up on the couch thinking about everything that had been going on.

She was curled up on the couch, looking like she was asleep but actually wasnt. She was just resting her eyes. She barely took up any room on the couch since she had her knees tucked up against her chest and was leaning back against the arm of the couch.

"But i see you pretty clearly now..."
She whispered as her eyes fluttered open. She smiled slightly.
"I wasnt sleeping, Kai..."

She looked down at her knees and shook her head. "Nope...Nothing at all. I'm just fine, Kai," She replied as she brought her left hand to rub up and down on her right arm.

Not like you care...
She shook her head.
"Nope...Its nothing,"
She repeated, tucking up her knees even tigher and feeling her shoulders shake as she let out a small sob. Her previous statement suddenly became very unconvincing.

I'm not gonna cry...I'm not...
"When you asked about my clan it...brought back memories,"
She murmured.
"Not many were good..."

"A bit late now, Kai...As soon as you mentioned them it hurt..." She sighed as she stood up. "I'll be in the garden if you need me..." She added as she walked past him silently and out the back door into the gardens.

She waited till she was well out of sight and sat behind a well-trimmed hedge. There, she put her head in her hands and just cried. Letting every ounce of pain flow out along with her tears.

She didnt hear or see him coming so, naturally, she didnt stop. Lines of tears streaked down her pale cheeks and dripped off her chin onto her legs. She didnt care, her mind was already too preoccupied.

She hugged him back tightly, sobbing into his shoulder. "Kai...Y-You wont cast me out like they did, w-will you..?" She asked him in between sobs. It was hard to understand but he could probably pick it up.

Her sobbing eased a little but her shoulders still shook badly. "T-Thank you, Kai..." She murmured, her voice hoarse from all the cying but more understandable than before.

She sat there with him for a while and let out all the emotion she'd sealed away for so many years. After a while, she calmed herself and became quiet again.

She nodded slightly, the last of her tears rolling down her cheek. "I..Think so.."

"I dont mind...You can go if you want to," She replied, wiping her eyes with her sleeve.

She huddled close to him, closing her eyes. "Good...Because i really dont want you to.."

"Kai..Are you..Happy?" She asked him quietly. "You like having me here, dont you?" She added.

She closed her eyes again, smiling contentedly.
"Thats good...Then i'm happy too.."

"My dream..."
She repeated.
"It would have to be...Well, its two things...One is to finally find my place in the world, so i don't have to keep running...The other would be to finally make peace with this beast. I want to be able to live a normal life without being a danger to other people..."

She shook her head.
"I have to accomplish it on my own...Its like a jinchuuriki trying to cope with a bijuu but on a smaller scale.."
She looked at him.
"Whats your dream?"

"Peace, thats a noble dream,"
She smiled.
"And...About your family. Have you decided on who?"

She shook her head.
"I only asked you because i'd be pretty disappointed if it wasnt me."
She started.
"I'd be happy to,"
She finished with a smile.

"I'll find something to do, dont worry about that.."
She tilted her head so it lay against his chest.
"I'll probably go for a walk. I cant stand being away from the wild for too long. Guess its just in my nature,"

"Heh, you'd be more likely to get lost than i would,"
She teased back, sticking out her tongue.

She smiled and kissed him back.
"Hey, thats cheating!"

"You know what i mean,"
She grinned and rolled her eyes.

She nodded and stood up also.
"Yeah thats probably a good idea,"

She smiled and nodded.
"Yeah, i'd like that,"

"Your..Mothers?"
She asked, looking at him in surprise.
"It really means a lot that youd trust me with something like that,"

"But, i'm not part of the family either,"
She blinked.
"So wouldnt it be wrong to give it to me too?"

She nodded in understanding and opened the closet, taking out the robe he had specified and handling it carefully.
"Looks like a perfect fit,"

She smiled.
"Really? Did we have anything else in common?"

She kissed him on the cheek.
"Well, i couldnt beat you in combat, Kai"
She chuckled.
"I'm honoured to even be the slightest bit like her,"

"Sounds good to me, maybe i could teach you a little bit too,"
She laughed.
"Don't be late for work,"

She blinked in surprise then grinned and shook her head, putting on the robe and just going to relax for the day.
